Movie Review: Spider-Man No Way Home

SPOILER FREE REVIEW

Holy crap, what a ride that was! As someone who has been a fan of Spider-Man since nearly birth in the early 90’s, this was Ana volatile joy to behold. Tons of fan service, awesome callbacks, fun characters, imposing villains, great action and tons of fun. While the first half of the movie takes it slow and tends to drag at points, the second half turns it up, a lot, and it’s just perfect from there. It’s hard to explain the roller coaster of emotions I felt while watching this movie. Having played nearly ever Spidey video game and watched every Spidey film, it meant that much more to someone like me. It’s a special movie, one that will be remembered forever, and will sit firmly near the top of all MCU films. Peter and MJ finally have the chemistry on point, there are genuine sacrifices made, the comedy is good and the story is fun to watch unfold. Seeing some of the classic Spidey villains back is a treat.

Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius returns

Everyone did such an amazing job, including the great Dr. Strange, who is now someone Peter looks up to. My biggest and only complaint is that at times, the story defies logic and common sense, but it kinda has to. That’s still not an excuse, but I had I mention it. For the sake of spoilers, there are some things I can’t mention and those make for some of the best moments in the film, so you’re in for an awesome time, guaranteed. Trust me. It may be beneficial to go back and watch previous Spidey films (back to 2002) to understand the references and story fully. To close things out, I’ll just say it again, this is one of the best MCU films and the absolute best Spider-Man movie. I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Score: 4.5 out of 5
