Movie Review: Top Gun Maverick

Top Gun Maverick is THE summer blockbuster of 2022. It’s a sharp and exciting ride from start to finish. Tom Cruise simply doesn’t age and hasn’t lost a step. He’s still the man when it comes to big budget action movies. There’s plenty of heart racing action and dogfights, the sound is big and immersive, and the emotions run wild throughout. It’s got heart, confidence and charisma. Not only is Cruise great, but everyone else is too. Teller, Hamm and the rest of the cast bring their A game and it clearly shows. The script is excellent and the acting is second to none. 

From top to bottom, it’s a spectacular film that isn’t afraid to be patriotic or offensive. It’s so good that it makes the original look borderline bad. Maverick is a rare gem for today’s standards: A big budget, patriotic, non-woke blockbuster. Nothing feels forced. Everything feels natural. It’s a job well done all the way around.
